What parents and students say :
“I am an adult learning who was very nervous to start learning how to play the cello since I had no prior music experience, but Yoni has created a welcoming and inspiring environment to start my journey!”
-Corbyn Niese, Columbus OH.
“It is a well know fact that quality performers don’t always make quality teachers. Yet, Yoni’s masterful advice and many years of experience helped me (adult learner) find my footing with the tremendously daunting instrument known as the cello and inspired me to explore the possibilities of the instrument. Further, Yoni has an uncanny ability to transfer his deep, complex understanding of the cello to any audience through intuition and expert guidance. I highly recommend Yoni for any prospective cellists and students due to his friendliness, flexibility, and ability to keep you entertained with your instrument.”
-Steven Chen, Columbus OH.
“Yoni is a caring, passionate teacher who flexes to meet his student’s needs. He has been so patient and supportive when working with my 10 year old daughter, and her confidence in her cello skills has grown as a result. She has proudly volunteered to play pieces for her strings class at school that she and Yoni have worked on in her lessons. As a parent, I have felt like Yoni has listened to and integrated my feedback about what approaches tend to work best for my daughter. We appreciate Yoni so much and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a cello instructor!”
-Katy Oberle, Columbus OH.
“My son, Julian, has been learning the cello with Yoni since the beginning of 2020. Julian loves the cello and classical music, but before he started with Yoni, he tended to enjoy the fun of playing more than improving his skills and making better sound. Yoni found his strength and weakness quickly, and directed him to improve his techniques. He was very strict and straightforward with Julian. At the same time, he was very good at using jokes and metaphors to make himself understood. Julian, being a strong-willed child, immediately realized that Yoni was just the type of teacher he needed if he wanted to be a better cellist. After a couple of months, Julian totally changed the way he played the cello. He has been paying more attention to the details in every respect of music playing. Now he is night and day different from himself a little over a year ago. I feel fortunate that Julian has met such a great teacher!”
-Rui Shao, Columbus OH.
“I encourage you to do your research when finding a cello teacher/instructor. As an adult student, l wanted a teacher that was more than a 30 minute lesson & your out the door mentality. Yoni takes it further. He explains the anatomy and physiology behind the playing which has helped improved my playing. If you are serious about learning how to play the cello, l would recommend one hour lessons. These are top quality lessons from a highly acclaimed professional.”
-Sheila Brooks, Columbus OH.
“Yoni became my first cello teacher when I was six, after my mom bribed me with jello for playing cello. Yoni is an amazing teacher who taught me great, solid technique and how to make pieces sound way more musical and vibrant. One of my best memories is going to NYC to see him perform at Carnegie Hall. You will not regret taking lessons with Yoni!”
-Hayden Kang, Pennsylvania made first chair at the middle school and county-wide orchestras.
“Yoni is a devoted teacher who puts 110% into every lesson. He is not only passionate about his craft but views teaching as a calling. As a novice adult learner who always wanted to learn the cello, I was grateful to have such a highly gifted and acclaimed musician as my cello teacher.”
-Helen Kang, Pennsylvania MAR, MS, BCBA, LBS
